An update or 2

Posted on Jan 7th, 2009 by Ian : rare gem Ian
I think it's been a while since I've blogged here.  That's a shame.  Let's see...my dog Shelby is doing very well.  I adopted a kitten last year and she's gotten along splendidly for the most part (although she likes to repot my plants sometimes).

2008 was great!  I recorded and mixed my third album.  It only needs to be mastered and then will be ready for release, hopefully this year.  In the meantime I've started work on my fourth album which I hope to have released exactly a year after the third.  The title of the new album is, "Ian Quiet Says...Save the Spotted Mermaid".  It's a loose concept album about enjoying life and finding yourself.  We are all an endangered species if you think about it.  Whoa!  That's kinda deep!!  :o)  I like that a lot.  I had so much fun making this record and am grateful for Jason's lyrics and drumming, Lacy's guest vocals and Qarly for being the voice of Gretchen Williamson, the Spotted Mermaid as well as The Siren playing bass guitar on "Om Mani Padme Hum".  Thank you all very much!!  It's such an eclectic album and while it is electronic it has some very organic moments and is the most organic album I've recorded overall.  Well, I hope everyone has an awesome 2009.

Love,

Ian

New Pictures from the Dead Party 2007

Posted on Oct 22nd, 2007 by Ian : rare gem Ian
Hey everyone,

I've put a dozen new photos from The Dead Party 2007.  What a party it was.  I hope some time will pass before I go to another party like that, lol.  Wow.  Note to self.  Don't mix 5-6 different types of alcohol.  I was asking for it.  I learned a valuable lesson.

I'm still working on my current projects, 2 Ian Quiet records and the new Louisiana Alchemists record.  I'm hoping to make some head way soon, but we'll see.  Which reminds me, if you will be in the Shreveport-Bossier area November 7 the Louisiana Alchemists are playing at the Jackrabbit Lounge.  We'll be debuting a lot of the new material we've been working on and it will be our debut as a trio!

What's everyone been up to?  I haven't heard from many of you in a while.

Take care,

Ian Quiet

Lately

Posted on Oct 8th, 2007 by Ian : rare gem Ian
Well, I thought I would update my blog.  It's been a few months.  So...performance art is on hiatus until after December.  I guess it's for the best.  I can explore something different musically now and put more effort and energy into rereleasing "Vulcan's Prayer" and the new Louisiana Alchemists album.  I also have 10 demos ready for mixing for my thrid album, but this is going to happen after "Vulcan's Prayer" rerelease.

Tomorrow, I hope to hear from Glorioso Casting about whether or not I will be a stand-in in "Wonderful World".  I hope so!  I'm really excited.

I just want to express how much paying back student loans sucks.

I highly recommend studying voluntary simplicty for anyone that wants off the fast-track and into a life of self discovery.

   Love,

Ian Q.

New Album Is Out Now

Posted on Jun 30th, 2007 by Ian : rare gem Ian
Hey everyone,

Just wanted to give you some updates and news.  My full-length debut album is available now on Why The Hell Not? Music.  Here is a list of places to hear or buy my music.

<>  myspace.com/ianquiet

<> whythehellnot.org

<> myspace.com/whythehellnot

The album was co-produced by yours truly and Chris Alexander.  I am calling the sound "experiemtnal techno industrial", but it's quite eclectic.

The official cd release party is July 25 (my birthday!) and this will be the first show where I incorporate my music and performance art together.

"Plummet" also premieres in Shreveport on July 20!  This is the film with my first professional speaking role.

So...lots of good things happening.  Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support.  I hope the best for you as you have hoped the best for me.

Love,

Ian Quiet

Happy Easter

Posted on Apr 7th, 2007 by Ian : rare gem Ian
To all of my friends, whether you are Christian or pagan or whatever...HAPPY EASTER!!!

I worked on "Plummet" yesterday and, of course, it was a lot of fun.  There was a pre-wrap party and we watched some of the dailies there.  I think we're going to have to reshoot the scene where I hit Jeremy with the shovel.  I think Chris said it was out of focus.  So...I imagine we will do that some time tomorrow which is the last day of shooting.  That saddens me, but I know more opportunities will come forward.

I am still waiting to hear from Chris about the music shows next month in Alexandria and New Orleans.  I hope we can still do them.

I am still planning on going to L.A. in January, but haven't saved any money yet.

My roommate moved out and I am very happy to live alone.

Love,

Ian

Don't Touch Me...

Posted on Apr 5th, 2007 by Ian : rare gem Ian
...'cause I'm on fire!  BWAH HAHAH HAHAHAH.

So....I started work on "Plummet".  It has been a lot of fun so far.  EVERYONE has been awesome and fun to work with.  The swinging of the shovel was a little challenging, I was never big on baseball growing up and had to swing the shovel much like a bat.

In other news...I am planning on going to L.A. in January of 2008.  I'm thinking of going for 4 or 5 days.  I hope to run into Jean-Paul while I'm there.  I am thinking that I will go via bus.  This way, I can go through New Mexico which is a fabulous state in my opinion.  I love New Mexico.  NEW MEXICO!!!

It will also be more cheaper and romantic as well as bohemian.  I will go through Arizona too, maybe I can see Jason & Jason (two good friends of mine that I've never met in person, believe it or not).

I am wondering where the bohemian capital of Los Angeles would be.  Safe and bohemian.  Hee hee.

Love,

Ian

Keep The Blessings Coming

Posted on Mar 30th, 2007 by Ian : rare gem Ian
I hope the blessings keep coming.  I am truly blessed.  I can't help but feel that everything is going my way.

My roommate was supposed to look at an apartment today.  I wonder if she did and if so, if she will move into it.  We are getting along a lot better.  I hope that trend continues.

I am at "the day job".  Scheduling between the new film and "the day job" has been a little tricky.  As of now, it looks like it will work out, but Saturday (next Saturday might be a little tricky).  I am hoping that I won't have to quit "my day job", but I am serious about this role in "Plummet" and will work it when I have to.  I can always get another job, it's just that this one has been flexible 90% of the time.  I like flexibility.

I hope Shelby, Tut and Cleopatra are OK.  I miss my pets when I'm here.  I couldn't take a break from work to check on them.  Sunday I will.

So tomorrow is our first read through.  I'm not really nervous, but I want to place all of my energy into getting deep into character.

Love,

Ian

Dreams Do Come True

Posted on Mar 29th, 2007 by Ian : rare gem Ian
I have scored my FIRST professional speaking role!!!  WHOO-HOO!!!  I KNEW that was the best audition I've had.  I am so excited!  I have so much work to do and none of it will even feel like work!  I have worked so hard for this and I can't even describe the elation taking place with me right now!  I am going to be PAID to ACT!  Hopefully, this is the first of many more to come.  I can't wait to e-mail Jean Paul, he will be so proud, he knows how hard I've worked too.  YEAH!  YAY!  I am almost jumping up and down.  I would jump up and down, but I'm at work and should probably conserve my energy.  It's hard for me to focus on "the day job".  I want to be in my room working on my lines and getting deep into character.  Last night I couldn't fall asleep right away and was going over my lines in different ways.  I think my pets thought I was crazy.  They had no problems falling asleep.  *sigh*

I just can't believe it.  I can, but I can't, you know?  I want to jump up and down so baaad!

Love,

Ian Q.

Roommate/Voluntary Simplicity

Posted on Mar 28th, 2007 by Ian : rare gem Ian
When I decided to start practicing other aspects of voluntary simplicity, I decided to take a chance and allow someone to move in with me.  It has not been really great.  It is not what I consider to be a win-win situation.  My life was a lot more simpler before my roommate.  One of my mission statements was to not have roommates, because 1.  I enjoy living by myself, 2.  I am responsible for my pets and if they get out it's because it's my fault.  3.  I can decorate the place how I want and to my liking.

Some people think it's strange that people live by themselves.  Well, some of us are not as social as others.  I am very organized and kinda of anal while at the same time being very bohemian in other aspects.  I've always been neater than everyone else I have co-habitated with.

Kudos to voluntary simplicity practitioners who have had success with roommates.  While I will continue to practice voluntary simplicity, the roommate thing is not for me.  At least not now.
